Laura Duncan Steps Down At WXRT

RAMP has confirmed that Laura Duncan has submitted her resignation as Brand Manager of Audacy Triple A WXRT (93 XRT)/Chicago after a four-year run to pursue new passions and spend more time with family. We understand that she will help through the programming transition.

Duncan joined WXRT in October 2021 after 19 years with Sarkes Tarzian (ST Radio) Triple A 92.3 WTTS/Indianapolis, the final three years as PD and afternoon host. Duncan had also programmed Alternative sister WGBJ (Alt 102.3)/Fort Wayne, IN and News-Talk WGCL-AM/Bloomington, IN since 2019. Duncan earlier did middays on KPRI/San Diego, and she spent the first decade of her career with Ad-Venture Media in Bloomington, IN as PD of Classic Rock WQRK, former Country WWEG (now AC WPHZ) and News-Talk WBIW.

Duncan said, “Working at WXRT was a lifelong goal for me, and I’ve been awed at the caliber of talent at 93XRT during my tenure — Lin Brehmer, Terri Hemmert, Frank E. Lee, Marty Lennartz, Johnny Mars — they’re all heroes who really lived up to my expectations. And, I’m very proud to have added to their legacy by introducing Annalisa and Andy Chanley, who sound like they’ve always been part of the fabric of XRT. These personalities and music curators have introduced Chicago, and America, to some of the most iconic artists of the last 50 plus years.”

Duncan continued, “My challenge when accepting the position was to further strengthen an iconic brand and its groundbreaking role in radio, while fiercely protecting its integrity. I believe we have achieved that and accomplished many goals along the way, including many innovative promotions and outstanding ratings and events. Now, it’s time for me to meet new challenges and opportunities, and do what I’ve loved doing since I was 14 years old: enjoy listening to XRT.”

Looking ahead, Duncan can be reached at LauraDuncanMedia@gmail.com.
