CMA Initiates New CEO Search

• The Country Music Association (CMA), in partnership with independent executive search firm Buffkin Baker, has opened applications in search for CMA’s next Chief Executive Officer to succeed current CEO Sarah Trahern, who in January announced she would retire at the end of 2026, marking the conclusion of an extraordinary tenure leading one of the most influential organizations in the Country Music industry.

CMA’s CEO is responsible for making organizational decisions, managing overall operations and working with the Board of Directors to establish the organization’s strategic direction. The CEO should exhibit tenacity, engagement and passion for furthering CMA’s mission to heighten the awareness of Country Music and support its on-going growth, both domestically and internationally. They also serve as the public face of the organization and represent CMA in the community. This position is based in Nashville.
