New Day Dawns At WHJY

• Following last month’s retirement of 36-year morning icons Paul Fuller and Al Matthews from iHeartMedia Mainstream Rock 94.1 WHJY/Providence, the station has revealed its revised lineup, which heavily involves the participation of PD Doug Palmieri and his pm drive co-host Jenn Dower, who have moved up to mornings — already a familiar daypart for Palmieri and Dower, who have also anchored mornings over on Hot AC sister WSNE (Now 93.3) since 2014.

That shift will now be handed over to iHeart personality Valentine. Doug & Jenn will continue to do afternoons on WHEB/Portsmouth.

And there’s more good news: Doug and Jenn’s move to mornings opens the door for prodigal son Steve Scarpetti (left) to make his triumphant fulltime return to HJY as afternoon talent. A fixture at WHJY from 2001 until Jan.. 2025, Scarpetti previously served as Promotions Director and Palmieri’s previous afternoon co-host.

Since his full-time departure, Scarpetti has remained a presence at the station as part-time/fill-in talent and host of The Metal Zone Sundays from midnight-3am.

RAMP caught up with Palmieri, who said, “Jenn and I are pumped for the opportunity and very happy to have Scarpetti back in the daily on-air fold with PMD. Keeping it local was a big deal for HJY.”
