A Delicious Mission
Cumulus Hot AC WPLJ/New York recently teamed up with Montclair, NJ-based ice cream purveyor Applegate Farm to create a couple of brand new summer ice cream flavors that will help benefit children with special health challenges. After a lot of testing and awesome experimentation, several new flavors were developed by PLJ personalities, and listeners chose the two most delicious-sounding flavors by popular vote — “Sea Salt Caramel Chocolate Chunk” and “S’mores Fluff-A-Nutter,” were announced during Todd & Jayde in the Morning.
Ice cream lovers can now buy these new flavors, along with Applegate Farm’s signature “Sweet Scoops From The Past” from now through October 30. Applegate Farm will donate 95 cents from the sale of every ice cream cone in these two flavors to Children’s Specialized Hospital, billed as “the nation’s leading provider of inpatient and outpatient care for children from birth to 21 years of age facing special health challenges.”
Chad Lopez, VP/Market Manager of Cumulus Media New York, said, “We are thrilled to bring our key partners together from Children’s Specialized Hospital and Applegate Farm for this fun summer campaign, essentially to help the children at Children’s Specialized Hospital. This is a perfect example of local radio making a difference.” Pictured, (l-r): Jason Street of Applegate Farm, WPLJ morning co-host Jayde Donovan, Melinda Street of Applegate Farm and Philip Salerno III, President and Chief Development Officer, Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation.
