Get Well Soon, Buzz Adams!
Our best wishes go with Buzz Adams, longtime host of the Buzz Adams Morning Show on Townsquare Rock KLAQ/El Paso, TX, who will be sidelined for a while as he recovers from “serious, but not life-threatening injuries” he suffered in an accident last Wednesday evening. Clearing up any earlier (and more manly) misconceptions that Adams had been thrown from a motorcycle, a message on the show’s Facebook page dialed that visual back to a tamer scenario, as it said, “And real quick, let’s clear this up — it’s not a ‘motorcycle’ accident. He’s not ‘Leader of the Pack.’ This was a literal motorized bicycle.”
Thanks to a Friday update from KLAQ PD Kevin Vargas, there is some good news: contrary to previous reports, Adams’ jaw and arm were not broken — just badly bruised, although his facial injuries remain the focus. Adams will need some extensive reconstructive dental surgery before he’s able to get back in the KLAQ morning saddle, where he has reigned for the past 25 years. As Vargas told RAMP, “We’re meeting today to make a long-term plan because by then we should have an accurate timetable for his processes and recovery.”
In the meantime, the show’s remaining cast — Lisa Sanchez, Brandon Coates and Joanna Barba — will continue to roll on at flagship KLAQ and the Buzz Adams Radio Network — KEYJ (Rock 108)/Abilene, KBAT/Midland-Odessa and KNRX/San Angelo. Sanchez wished her co-host well, commenting, “I was afraid Buzz was in a mid-life crisis until I heard it was a motorized bicycle.”
