‘CHEZ Stafe’ — Not A French Restaurant

• It’s great to hear from our longtime friend Morgan Prue, who, after seven years with Beasley Media Group Boston recently relocated to Ottawa, Ontario, as the new APD/MD at Rogers Sports & Media Mainstream Rock 106-1 CHEZ.

It was Ms. Prue who reached out to share the news of an accidental — and awesome — fundraising campaign coughed up by the CHEZ morning dudes — The Biggs & Barr Show with Pastey Jamie. When intending to say “Stay Safe” to a caller, it accidently came out as “CHEZ Stafe” — and a movement was born!

Being the creative geniuses they tell everyone they are, the guys decided to sell “CHEZ Stafe”-branded t-shirts to benefit the Ottawa Food Bank. Due to heavy listener demand, what was originally intended to be a one-day-only promotion stretched throughout the weekend.

In the first six hours Biggs & Barr were on the air, over 1,000 shirts were sold — they actually refused to sign off their shift until they met that number! In total, nearly 2,000 of these awesome t-shirts have been sold, which has generated over $30,000 for the Ottawa Food Bank. When you factor in the food bank’s mighty 5X buying power, this donation will help the Ottawa Food Bank purchase over $150,000 in food!

Adam Thompson, PD of 106.1 CHEZ, said, “We are so proud at CHEZ to help the Ottawa Food Bank and bring the community together for a good cause.” When asked for an official-sounding quote, The Biggs and Barr Show guys said, “We just made a mistake on-air. It’s our amazing listeners and the incredible humans that live here that deserve the credit. They bought one of these silly t-shirts and now the Food Bank has a bunch of money. It’s a beautiful thing.”

We are told that these now collector’s-edition CHEZ STAFE t-shirts are back in the vault. If you want one, you are advised to check your local thrift store in about six months… Oh, and Morgan Prue can now be reached at Morgan.Prue@rci.rogers.ca.
