Condolences: Jason “Hawk” Borage

We are saddened to report that Jason “Hawk” Borage, Production Director and afternoon drive talent on iHeartMedia Classic Rock WQBZ (Q106.3)/Macon, GA, died on Saturday, May 13 after a 16-month battle with cancer. He was only 35 years old. Borage grew up in Colorado and worked at the former KRDO (Peak 95.1)/Colorado Springs before relocating to Macon in 2006. After a stint with Cumulus Top 40 WMGB (B95.1), Borage joined WQBZ, where he spent the past 10 1/2 years. Outside his normal job duties, Borage also hosted a pre-game show for Mercer University football and was a member of the broadcast crew in the booth. We are told that Borage continued working throughout most of his illness until March, when he finally had to step away and go on medical leave.

“Jason fought like hell and never gave up until his last day,” said Brent Henslee, SVP of Programming for Macon and LaGrange-Newnan, GA. “Out of pure stubbornness, he lived far longer, and surpassed more milestones, than any doctor thought he would. He did it for his wife, Jennifer and daughter, Bethany, who will be 3 years old on Memorial Day.”

Borage is also survived by his parents, Clarence and Stephanie Borage; his sister, Stacey and grandfather, Howard Haan. His obituary is posted online. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am tomorrow, May 19 at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church in Macon. The family suggests that those who wish to make donations in Jason’s memory do so to the Fibrolamellar Cancer Foundation, 20 Horseneck Lane, 2nd Floor, Greenwich, CT 06830. Donations also may be made online at fibrofoundation.org/donate.
