Huntsville: Action Central
• iHeartMedia/Huntsville welcomes two new pros into the family, starting tomorrow, May 1 — first, say hello to Johnny Maze, who joins the company as the new PD of Classic Rock WTAK, Classic Hits WQRV (100.3 The River) and Top 40 106.5 Kiss FM (WQRV-HD2). Maze (left) most recently programmed Adams Radio Active Rock WZBH (93.5 The Beach) and Classic Rock WGBG (Big 98.5)/Salisbury-Ocean City, MD until last August.
Maze’s earlier programming stops include Scripps Rock KICT (T95) and Classic Rock KFXJ (104.5 The Fox)/Wichita, Cumulus Active Rock WXZZ (Z-Rock 103)/Lexington, KY, and WRXW (Rock 93.9)/Jackson, MS and KRXE/Lafayette, LA. Maze’s new duties take some of the load off of market SVP of Programming Erich West, who recently shifted his programming focus to Country WDRM.
• At the same time, Mason Black is named as Huntsville’s new Digital Content Director. Black (right) earns the transfers from a similar position at the company’s Auburn, AL group. He replaces Beth Ridgeway, who recently left for an opportunity outside of radio.
