Ponch Returns To KC Radio
• Stand by for the official announcement, but the word is already out that, after a two-year radio hiatus, Kansas City’s own Brian “Ponch” Hudgens will soon be parked in front of a microphone again, this time as morning co-host on Entercom Hot AC KZPT (99.7 The Point), paired up with market vet Nikki Vivas, starting Sept. 4. Ponch initially tipped the big news in a Facebook post, and the big announcement is now posted on The Point website.
Ponch famously spent 17 years across the street with Steel City Top 40 KMXV (Mix 93.3)/Kansas City, rising to PD/morning personality. He left in August 2016 to pursue a career path with Strange Music as EVP of Pop — a position he will retain, according to his post, which read, “I will also continue my journey with Strange Music. Managing, promoting and developing some of the best artists on the planet! Music and Radio are two of my BIGGEST passions. Being able to do both, I am literally living my dream.”
Ms. Vivas most recently did middays over on Cumulus Top 40 KCHZ (95.7 The Vibe), but she and Ponch worked together some years ago when he hired her as Promotions Director at KMXV.
