Radio One Has Two Ohio Openings

RAMP has confirmed that Radio One has parted company with 13-year company veteran Bill Black, who had served in the dual roles of PD of Urban WENZ (Z107.9) and Urban AC 93.1 WZAK/Cleveland and Regional Operations Manager for Radio One Cincinnati and Columbus. The company is now seeking to fill two positions: 1) an OM for WENZ, WZAK, News-Talk 1490 WERE-AM and Inspirational WJMO-AM (Praise 94.5)/Cleveland and 2) a PD for Urban WCKX (Power 107.5/106.3)/Columbus.

The positions will be posted soon. In the meantime, interested candidates are invited to reach out to Radio One VP of Programming Colby “Colb” Tyner at ctyner@radio-one.com.

• Black (pictured) started his radio career at WZHT/Montgomery, AL and then moved to WFXE (Foxie 105)/Columbus, GA before launching WHXT (Hot 103.9)/Columbia, SC. Black joined Radio One Atlanta in 2006 as Imaging Director and mixer for Urban WHTA (Hot 107.9) and Urban AC WAMJ, later moving up through the ranks to become APD/MD.

In a statement shared with RAMP, Black said, “I’ve been in radio 30 years as of last week, 13 of those were spent with Radio One. I thank [Radio One Atlanta VP of Programming & Ops] Hurricane Dave for pushing me to grow and Colby Tyner and [Radio One RVP] Eddie Harrell for trusting me to program the state of Ohio. Thank you to my staff, and keep making me proud from the sidelines.” Black can be reached in a number of ways — 404-567-2874, via email at billblack2@gmail.com or on social media @djbillblack.
