ScrubHub for Heroes
• We wanted to take a moment to salute a couple of generous spirits — Maty Monfort-Novia, the wife of our former R&R colleague Tony Novia, and her friend, Barbera Thornhill, who recently took the initiative to actively help the medical heroes who have been working all hours battling COVID-19 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Providence St. John’s Health Center — with an injection of $50,000 in private seed money and the participation of several generous local restaurants and caterers, they launched “ScrubHub For Heroes,” which has been delivering free daily nutritious meals since March 30 to Cedars Sinai in West Hollywood and St. John’s in Santa Monica, and they plan to do it as long as they can and expand to other hospitals as well.
As Maty (left) relates to RAMP, “The response has been amazing and the doctors and nurses are so thankful as they’ve been pulling double shifts. With COVID-19 hitting hard, including many in the music and entertainment business, we want to get the word out and keep theses meals going as long as possible, and if possible, also expand to other hospitals.”
In an effort to expand this amazing campaign, Maty and Barbera have launched a GoFundMe page, which has so far raised approximately $30,000. Needless to say, they need your assistance to 1) donate whatever you can to keep this amazing campaign active, and 2) Share this GoFundMe link on your social media feeds. Maty added, “We feel blessed and humbled to give back to our medical community and local restaurants and caterers.”
