Jay Shannon Named OM, CMG San Antonio
• Cox Media Group San Antonio Radio welcomes veteran Texas-based programmer Jay Shannon as its new Operations Manager, effective May 4. He succeeds Rob Roberts, who recently relocated back to Atlanta. Shannon will now oversee programming strategy and operations for Mainstream Rock 99.5 KISS, Classic Rock KTKX (106.7 The Eagle), Classic Hits KONO 101.1, Hot AC KSMG (HITS 105.3), Country KCYY (Y100), and Classic Country KKYX, and Business News-Talk KONO-AM 860.
Shannon brings with him more than 30 years of radio programming and leadership experience, most of that time spent with iHeartMedia, most recently as PD of Hot AC KDMX (Mix 102.9) and AC KDGE (Star 102.1)/Dallas until his departure in Jan. 2025. Shannon had been vested with iHeartMedia since 1992, arriving in DFW in Feb. 2014 as PD of KDMX and then-Alternative KDGE (102.1 The Edge), earning the transfer after 13 years with iHeartMedia Austin, where he programmed KHFI and KPEZ and later rose to SVP of Programming.
