Worldwide News Network Launches May 23

Under the leadership of Radio Hall of Famer Lee Harris, newly named VP of News for WABC Radio/New York and The Worldwide News Network, the service goes live at 12am on Saturday, May 23, immediately feeding stations professionally produced top and bottom-of-the-hour newscasts every hour, seven days a week. Former CBS Radio broadcast journalists Michael Wallace, Cooper Lawrence, Bill Rehkopf, and Matt Pieper are the network’s first major hires.

“There is a huge opening right now for credible, immediate, no-nonsense reporting,” said Chad Lopez, President of Red Apple Media, Red Apple Audio Networks, and WABC Radio. “Listeners want to know what happened, why it matters, and what’s happening next. That’s the lane Worldwide News Network is taking.”
“Our mission is to be the most trusted news gathering organization in media,” said John Catsimatidis, Owner/CEO, Red Apple Media, the parent of Red Apple Audio Networks and Worldwide News Network. “We are creating a powerful, around-the-clock newsroom designed to compete at the highest level of broadcast audio news. Facts are what will drive the Worldwide News Network. We’re looking forward to our expansion in the European markets.”
