The Programming Dept.: Paris Nicole & Carolina
• Radio One is wisely reallocating a valuable existing resource, as Paris Nicole is packing for big a move to Philadelphia as the new APD/midday personality at Throwback WPHI (Boom 103.9). Nicole earns the transfer from a similar position with Urban sister WCDX (iPower 92.1/104.1)/Richmond, VA.
Nicole is a Richmond native who got her first radio break as a 16-year-old intern at a local station. She went on to graduate from Hampton University with a BA in Broadcast Journalism and joined WCDX as a part-timer in 2010. Two years ago she was awarded the midday show, and added APD stripes last December. In a Facebook post, Nicole said, “As a radio personality, it has always been a dream and major goal of mine to do radio on-air fulltime in a Top 10 major market.” In a shout-out to her hometown, Nicole added, “Thank you for showing me so much love and support since I started on middays two years ago. Richmond will always be HOME, but now it is time for the next chapter!”
• Adams Radio Group Active Rock WZBH (93.5 The Beach)/Salisbury-Ocean City, MD welcomes Carolina to the Eastern time zone as the station’s new Music Director/midday personality. Carolina earns the transfer from Adams Radio siblings KHQT & KSNM/Las Cruces, NM. She previously worked at KFMA/Tucson. Carolina succeeds Leah Rantz, who is on her way to do afternoon drive at Saga Alternative WLZX (Lazer 99.3 & 105.1)/Springfield, MA.
Concurrent with Carolina’s arrival, PD Johnny Maze unplugs from afternoons on Classic Rock sister WGBG (Big 98.5) to take over pm drive on The Beach. Rounding out the revised lineup, WZBH also signs up with HardDrive XL weeknights from 7-midnight.
