Corwin Joins UPROXX Advisory Board

UPROXX, one of the world’s largest digital media and content companies, announced entertainment industry heavyweight Charlie Corwin as the first appointment to its new advisory board. His primary focus will be to help steer UPROXX’s expansion into television and film. Corwin’s announcement comes on the heels of UPROXX’s August 2018 acquisition by Warner Music Group (WMG).

Corwin was most recently CEO of Imagine Entertainment, founded by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard. Before that, he was Co-Chairman and CEO of Endemol Shine Americas. Corwin started his career as co-founder of online startup Live Music Channel, and he later co-founded movie and television production company Original Media. Corwin created Miami Ink and its popular spinoffs, as well as Swamp People and Storm Chasers, and he also produced the films The Squid and the Whale, Half Nelson and A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints.

“UPROXX has an amazing brand and thriving platform,” said Corwin. “Their loyal audience wants premium programs and UPROXX has responded with an award-winning studio. Now with the acquisition by Warner Music, our goal is to become a top tier creator of original content. I’m honored to work with the talented folks at UPROXX and Warner Music to deliver on that mission.” UPROXX CEO Benjamin Blank said, “Charlie has been at the helm of some of the biggest brands in entertainment and is a known innovator. We’re now living in an era when more traditional platforms must merge with new ones. As such, it’s critical to have leaders who can see three or four moves ahead. Charlie is one of those people, and we’re thrilled to have him as part of our team.”

Max Lousada, WMG’s CEO of Global Recorded Music, commented, “The power of the UPROXX brand to attract pioneering personalities is one of the main reasons we brought the company to Warner. Charlie is an inventive leader and his expertise will be invaluable as UPROXX expands its ability to create stories and conversations that influence culture.”
