The Bull Is Back In Seattle

• Just 14 months after flipping the former KNUC/Seattle from Country to Triple A, Hubbard has reversed that decision and flipped KPNW back to Country, reviving its former 98.9 The Bull branding. The big move happened at 10am local time on Monday.

Longtime market veteran Fitz (pictured), host of the Skyview Networks-syndicated CT40 With Fitz, who previously anchored mornings on the Bull from April 2019-2021, and for 12 years before that on Audacy rival KKWF (100.7 The Wolf), is now back in mornings on the resuscitated Bull.

“No, it’s not an April fool’s joke — 98.9 The Bull is back,” said OM Scott Mahalick. “With Fitz at the helm, we are excited to bring back the music that Seattle loves. We believe that this change will not only resonate with our loyal listeners but also reignite the passion and energy that country music brings to the Pacific Northwest.”

Trip Reeb, VP/Market Manager of Hubbard Seattle, commented, “We understand the disappointment that our listeners felt when we made the switch from 98.9 The Bull to Adult Alternative. We want to make things right so we are bringing in Fitz, a long-time advocate for Country music. He understands the deep connection our audience has with Country radio.”

Fitz remarked, “The PNW is so very special to me. It’s home to the greatest Country fans in the world. I have grown with them over the years and they are like family. I’m so excited that Country is back on 98.9. Saddle up!”

The KPNW call letters will remain in place, reflecting Hubbard’s commitment to provide a Country station that is unique to the Pacific Northwest. The station will be positioned as “98.9 The Bull — Country for the PNW.”
