San Diego’s Chino Upped & Extended
• After eight years of driving San Diego home at iHeartMedia Top 40 KHTS (Channel 933)/San Diego, hometown fave Chino Iglesias is just getting warmed up — RAMP has confirmed that Chino just inked a sweet new contract extension and has been awarded well-deserved APD stripes.
A grateful Chino broke the big news in an Instagram post that read, “Hey San Diego, it looks like we are stuck with each other for a while. Just signed on to be part of your drive home for the foreseeable future on @channel933! I have also accepted a new role as APD for 933 and couldn’t be more excited!” He added, “I’ve been working for iHeart since 2002 and it still blows my mind that I can reach listeners in other markets from my home studio every day.”
Chino’s extensive iHeart history notably includes a seven-year run in afternoons at KYLD (Wild 94.9)/San Francisco, followed by a brief run in mornings across the hall on KISQ — formerly 98.1 Kiss FM. Earlier in his career Chino spent seven years at KZZP/Phoenix under the leadership of Mark Medina, working his way up to APD/MD and afternoons. He also put in a couple years across the street at KKFR and did two stints in mornings at XHTZ (Z90)/San Diego.
In closing, Chino said, “Thanks to the BOSS LADY Melissa Forrest, Steve Geofferies and Haze for this amazing opportunity and all of the Program Directors across the country that allow me to be part of their team.”
