Ramsey Comes Home To Q97.9/Portland

• After nearly a decade away from his hometown of Portland, ME, Jeff “JR” Ramsey has come full-circle, returning to where his career began — Townsquare Top 40 WJBQ (Q97.9)/Portland, this time as the station’s new afternoon drive talent. He will also serve as Regional Production Director, overseeing creative radio production across Townsquare’s markets in Portland & Augusta, ME, and Portsmouth, NH. Ramsey posted a video of his announcement to Instagram.

Ramsey most recently did afternoons at iHeartMedia Top 40 KDHT (Hits 95.7)/Denver until last August, when he was one of many employees cut loose during a large round of restructuring. Prior to Denver, Ramsey spent four years in nights and later, afternoons at Midwest Communications’ WNFN/Nashville, and he started his career doing nights at WJBQ.

In making the announcement of Ramsey’s return, Sarah Dobbins, Market President of Townsquare Portland and Augusta, commented, “When you can boomerang a talent back to Maine — you do it! The drive home in Portland just got a whole lot more fun! Welcome home, JR!”

An equally excited Ramsey remarked, “From the day I left Portland, Maine, I’ve dreamed of coming back to host afternoon drive on WJBQ. I’m incredibly grateful for the journey — from Portland to Nashville to Denver — and now, coming full circle back home. The warm welcome from my fellow Mainers has been overwhelming, and I’m beyond thankful for the opportunity to reconnect with the community that first sparked my passion for radio.”
