Spyder Harrison Signs Off

• “It’s been a helluva ride!!” Spyder Harrison exclaimed. Couldn’t have said it better ourselves… after a remarkable half-century radio career, SiriusXM’s own Spyder Harrison is turning off the red light and retiring. Harrison made his announcement in an Instagram post that reads, in part, “Thanks to all my listeners over my 24 years at SiriusXM — and to everyone who let me do what I loved for 53 years in radio. I never took a single minute of it for granted.”

Harrison, the artist formerly known as JJ Walker (and “The Jammer” at Z100 back in the day) was most recently doing middays on SXM’s The 10s Spot and countdowns on Hits 1 and 90s On 9.

Harrison added, “Last week, one of my earliest believers, my friend and the radio consultant I respect most, Gary Berkowitz, reminded me of something I’ll never forget: ‘You got out alive.'” He was right.

How lucky was I to spend a lifetime doing something I was passionate about since I was 16 years old? Not many people get to say that. Now it’s on to my next challenge… Head Coach of the USA Men’s Doom-Scrolling Team!

A huge thank you to my best friend, Sean Caldwell, for always being there for me.

And heartfelt thanks to so many people who helped me along the way: Scott Shannon, Brian Philips, Dom Theodore, Steve Perun, Kent LaTurno, Dean Thacker, Joel Salkowitz, BJ Harris, Rick Stacy, Magic Matt Alan, Jaybeau Jones, Lee Logan, Frank Reed.

If I’ve forgotten anyone, please know it wasn’t intentional. I’m grateful to every person who was part of this amazing journey. Now it’s time to enjoy the rest of life’s adventure with family, friends, and especially the love of my life, Marjorie Sunshine.

Stay safe. Be healthy. Be kind. Be happy. Bye… for now.” — Spyder

PS: Thanks to my Evil twin brothers JJ Walker, The Jammer, Dick Shottland, and Tricky Dicky.”
