In making the announcement, Darrell Calton, CEO of Impact Radio Group remarked, “Booker brings the company years of experience from larger markets, a lifelong obsession for radio, and a determination to excel. His strong work ethic and easy-going personality are forging him into an invaluable part of Team Impact.”
“It was a no-brainer that James would be the guy to take on our Hot AC with the amount of success he has had behind the wheel of Bob FM,” said Calton, who added, “James Garner has been involved from the start. He has seen this market and this company at both their best and worst of times. He is one of the players that have consistently worked with us to really build something special and is no stranger to hard work. We are really excited to see where James goes with My102.7.” Garner will officially take over the KZMG afternoon show from Curtis Booker on July 3 — which just happens to mark Garner’s tenth anniversary with the company.
